DETA HEDMAN AND MARK McGEENEY ARE 2015 BRITISH OPEN CHAMPIONS
The 41st British Open once again entertained all darts fans with a spectacular show of darting talent by Live streaming throughout the day as well as all semi-finals and finals.
Their was a marvellous Semi final line up in both the ladies and Men’s competitions.
The first ladies semi-final was a ‘War of the Roses’ between Lancashire’s Lisa Ashton and Yorkshire’s Lorraine Winstanley. Although both ladies were pretty evenly matched Lisa booked her place in the final when she hit a 142 outshot in the fifth leg to win the match 4-1. The second semi final was between Fallon Sherrock and Deta Hedman which Deta won convincingly after hitting a 174 to set up a 36 outshot in the 5th leg giving her a 4-1 victory with a 26.54 average.
The first of the men’s semi finals was between Gary Robson and Mark McGeeney. It was Mark who dominated this match winning through to the final 5 -1 against an under-par Robbo. The second semi-final was an all Yorkshire affair between ‘Scotty 2 hotty’ Waites and Brian ‘Doggy’ Dawson. Scott initially raced into a 3 – 0 lead then Brian showed true Yorkshire grit as he took 3 legs but Scott dug in and sealed his place in the final with a 5-3 victor and both players having 30+ averages.
The Ladies final was a high scoring match by both ladies but it was dominated by Deta who had a 29.35 average and won 5-1. Lisa’s average was 27.60.
The Men’s final was another ‘Roses’ battle when Yorkshires Scott Waites took to the stage against Lancashire’s Mark McGeeney. Although both players were evenly matched it was Mark who was most consistant at both scoring and hitting doubles eventually winning 6-3 to become the 2015 British Open Champion.
Well done to both Champions.
